How will PvP work? Will I always be getting killed?

Question

How will PvP work? Will I always be getting killed?

Answer

How much PvP becomes a factor in your life will depend greatly on the kingdom in which you live and your choice of profession in the game. Lazaron is a more sedate kingdom with a great deal of dependence on regulations and peaceful interaction. PvP is restricted. You can duel with someone if they agree and you can fight them if someone does something that warrants a physical attack. If they are from Karatta, they are considered an enemy and you can attack them with or without provocation.

In Lazaron, although you have the ability, if you attack someone without due cause, you will accrue villain points. If you actually kill them, you will get another villain point.

For every villain point you accumulate, 1% more experience will be added to the requirements to level or gain skill. You have a -1 modifier to everything you attempt. Basically, Clorin curses you. If you don't accumulate additional villain points, the points will fade away in 14 days real time. If you get another point, the timer resets and you will have 2 points for 28 days.

In Lazaron, attacking someone in a physical way, which will include actions like slapping, kicking, punching, or spitting, will not result in an immediate villain point, but will result in the aggressor being 'flagged for PvP' and the victim being able to attack the aggressor with no fear of penalty.

If you are physically attacked with a weapon, the attacker will get a villain point even if the attack does not result in a death. You are considered to be defending yourself and will not receive a penalty if you attack them in return.

In Karatta, PvP is allowed. Anyone can attack a player and get away with it, providing they are no more than five levels lower than the attacker. If a player attacks another player five levels or lower than them, they will gain a villian point. If someone five levels or lower attacks a higher level player, there is no penalty for the higher level player defending themselves, to the death if necessary. This is only true until level 40. Once a player reaches level forty in Karatta, they are no longer protected by the 5 level gap.

In Karatta, very few offenses are worthy of negative points. Karatta is a very rough place and players who reside in that kingdom should be prepared for the consequences of battling both creatures and other players.

If you are a commoner or a merchant in either kingdom, chances are you will be able to stay out of combat for the most part. Anything can happen, as in the real world, but generally the fighters and casters will take the responsibility for keeping the peace.

PvP will be as much a part of your game play as you choose, dependent generally upon the Kingdom in which you reside as well as your choice of class.
