The character creation process is currently in development. Please view the above linked forum for more information and to include your ideas and thoughts during the development process.

We believe that making a character is one of the most important things about this type of game. It will determine how much you enjoy the game, what you do in the game, and what kind of experience you have. We have designed the character creation system to be very detailed to give the player the ability to really design a character that suits the style of play they desire.

Before we delve into the process of creating a character, we would like to mention that we realize some people may just want to get a feel for the game and may not be interested in spending a much time creating a character. For them, we offer the 'quick create'. This system offers a very quick creation process that severely limits customization, but gets a character started quickly.

Creating a character will involve several steps.

  1. Choosing a Kingdom - Lazaron or Karatta?
  2. Choosing a first and last name.
  3. Choosing a Race. (Choices based on Kingdom)
  4. Modifying your attributes.
  5. Choosing a class. (Based on Race choice)
  6. Choosing your character's abilities and disabilities.
  7. Choosing skill kits.
  8. Choosing your character's physical features and looks.

All of the above steps will have comprehensive 'help' so that you will understand each step you're taking. There's no need to be 'in character' at this point, that starts once you actually have a character. We will skip down to 'Modifying your attributes as the previous steps are pretty self-explanatory for this section's purpose.

Every race will have a minimum attribute score of 59 and a maximum of 84. When you choose your class, points will automatically be allocated to attributes necessary to bring your character's stats up to the minimum necessary to successfully enroll them in the chosen class. Once this is complete, you will be able to apply the remaining points to the attributes of your choice. Each attribute has a 'cap' or a maximum that it can be raised to. This is dependent upon race. During play these attributes can be raised by items, spells, or leveling. When you level, you will be awarded points.

Everyone will receive the same amount of points allocated according to level. Those points can then be used toward any attribute you choose. After you determine your attributes, you will choose a class. Your race will determine which class choices you have, but your attributes will determine how good you will be at that class.

We want people to be ultimately happy with their choices so we will advise them in which classes their character would be more likely to excel. The message might be: ‘Based on your race and attributes, your character would be most suited as a rogue, ranger, or commoner’. You can choose any class you like, but the system will help you to determine which class would be the most beneficial.

You will gain basic skills and abilities common to your class at this point. Abilities and disabilities are next on the list. Everyone starts off with a number of points with which to purchase abilities. Additional points can be gained by choosing disabilities.

Abilities and disabilities can only be chosen at character creation. Some description choices you make will affect your character's attributes and apply either Abilities or Disabilities. After that, they are only raised through skill kits or quests. Based on your choice of kingdom, race, and class, you will have Physical, Magical, and Worldly points to purchase skill kits in each category.

Magic is not just for 'spells and finger wagglers', but will also encompass a Monk's special moves or an Armsman's combat forms. Worldly involves skills that determine your ability to survive either in city or forest. Hiding, stalking, tracking, commerce, appraisal and trading are examples of the skills that can be purchased with Worldly points. Physical points are any skills that relate to your physical abilities, mostly combat.

Choosing your skill kits is of utmost importance. Time should be taken to consider what you want to do and how you want to play your character. If you chose to be a Parson, will you be the type who goes out in the battlefield wearing heavy armor and wielding a mace, using holy magic to both smite down enemies and assist your comrades? Or do you want to be the type of Parson who wears robes and patiently lectures young apprentices, a master of healing and raising of the fallen?

Explore the starting kits available to you and determine those best suited to your role playing style. Choosing your character description should be great fun. You will have dozens of choices and endless combination available to make a unique character. Choose everything from hair color to body weight and height.

What does your nose look like? What shape are your eyes? What color are they? Do you have long legs or broad shoulders? A cleft chin or high cheek bones? Some features you can choose to 'skip' and others will be unique to your race, like wings and tattoos. All in all, we believe the character creation system will allow players to create a unique character and feel they have been given the chance to bring their individual flair into play.
