Player Estates in The Seventh Sun

The Seventh Sun provides a unique political environment. In most games, the NPC government is almost useless, completely abused, or completely ignored. Players have always enforced the 'laws' of the land.

In The Seventh Sun, we give players the ability to REALLY enforce the laws, but only of their land. When you are approved to run an Estate, you will be able to literally take over an area of the game. You will have the privilege of implementing sales tax and property tax, as well as instituting certain laws that will help you govern your area.

Sales tax will be collected every time a sales transaction takes place in your area. You can set the tax to whatever you want, but keep in mind that if your tax is too high, people will not live or trade in your area, and thus you will make no money.Property taxes work similar to sales taxes. Whenever a person buys a house in your area, they will pay property taxes to you.

Every game month, property taxes will be due to the ruling house. Also, any merchants that open shops, inns, taverns, or any other establishment will also be required to pay shop owner property tax. Once again, you can set this tax to whatever you want, but if it is too high, people will not build in your area.

Your job is to use these funds to build up your area. Make better streets, pay for good protection by guards, train your guards and equip them well. You may even wish to sponsor trade people or establish business deals with merchants.

You will also want to recruit strong warriors and casters into your House to help protect your area. You will have to keep your area safe from Rift Spawn and invasions, as well as rival houses that may try to take your area away from you in a war.

There are endless possibilities in this political scenario. The right and just city which bans bars and supports religion heavily, the city of sin that encourages taverns and brothels, the power hungry Estate which seeks to take over the Kingdom and rule it all. Which will you play out?
