History

Chelsa was founded and named after the first Dwarven woman to be married once clans were officially obliterated after the Rending. This occurred sometime in the Age of Lost Spirits. Exact dates are not recorded. Starting out as nothing more than a huge cavern, the foundations of Chelsa were carved by the sweat and tenacity of the surviving Dwarves which numbered just over 70. It is the first time in history that the Dwarves have lived as one society in one Kingdom.

Many years later, the Chaos Wars would find Chelsa. Having collapsed the only tunnel into the town itself, the Dwarves fled. Their town was saved a good deal of damage because of this, but many dead Dwarves were left behind and a great time of mourning descended upon the cavernous town.

Today, Chelsa is still a remote town and does not see many travelers. Its climate is harsh, but the Dwarves are active in trade supplying much of the Kingdom's ore, gems, and metal goods.

The Mountain Town of Chelsa

Description

Chelsa is the starting village of the Mountain Dwarves found in Lazaron. Few other of the delicate races of Lazaron can handle the bitter cold of Mount Iceback on a long term basis. Visitors are rare, but the Dwarves don't exactly mind that. Mount Iceback is the highest point in Lazaron. Because of this, it is unusually cold and the winters can be completely unforgiving. The Summers see a slight increase in temperature, but not by much. There is no rain on Mount Iceback, only snow and ice.

The village itself is located inside the mountain range called Mt. Iceback. It is riddled with caverns, rivers, tunnels, and underground passage ways that the dwarves themselves have yet to fully explore. It is very cold, dark, and damp inside the mountain, but the dwarves seem to like it that way.

The Dwarves are masters when it comes to carving stone, and their rocky town is a show off of that talent. Over the span of many, many years, the dwarves have manage to carve store fronts, homes, a port, and other structures right into the stone itself.

The village has a port called the Port of Sabine. The river will eventually lead out of the mountain and connect with Figlan’s Run, the major river that runs from the far north of Lazaron all the way to Quenae and into the Sea of Levia.

History

Home town of the Lazaronians or Humans of Lazaron, Laraville was founded when a mother of 13 refused to wander without aim any longer after the events of the Age of Rending. Few moved on, many stayed to build new homes, ultimately naming their new home after that woman at first in jest, but it is something that stuck and was never changed.

Located at an intersection of rivers and ontop of a large hill, this defensive position is a large reason of how the otherwise unprepared town could withstand two months of assault during the Age of Chaos before falling to the press of the Karattan Armies.

After the war, when the Academies were established, Laraville was the first and still the only Academy to open its doors to all races and citizens of other towns to attend. This has proven quite wise as they tend to attract talented individuals regardless of race from all corners of Lazaron.

The Town of Laraville

Description

Humans call this place home, but most every race in Lazaron calls it their destination at one point or another. A thriving trade market attracts people from all over the Kingdom. Laraville is a Port Town with the largest and most trade orientated port in the Kingdom. Its moderate climate makes it a key place to grow foods of all kind. A large wooden palisade encircles Laraville and combined with this location atop a hill, it is a very defensive town.

Laraville is a River Town through and through. Buildings made mostly of wood and thatched roofs, with some of the more prominent featuring river stone and wooden shingles. There is potential for many shops and businesses to Thrive in this busy town.

Moderate rainfall in the late winter and Spring months, a mild summer thanks to cool ocean breezes, and a mild winter with light snowfall again thanks to the Ocean breeze that pushes warm air toward Laraville.

History

Avendae appeared in the world after The Rending. No one really knows where they came from, not even the Pixies. As far as they are concerned, everyone else just showed up in their world! While Avendae and the Pixies are both whimsical and magical, the pain and suffering of the Chaos wars even managed to find it. As small of a town and as ill defended as it was, with the help of a Magical Barrier from the Sprites, Avendae managed to serve as the last bastion of hope and safety for the people of Lazaron.

Since the Chaos Wars, the village has settled back to its normal state of being aside from the giant wall the Mountain Dwarves built around it. Though not many people have a reason to visit Avendae other than for its wonderful pastries and confections, any that do are warmly welcomed with cakes and cookies and leave feeling much heavier than when they entered!

The Town of Avendae

Description

Being located near the Fae Mountain Range, and in the deep pockets of Misty Veil, the Pixies are pretty much isolated from other places. They harbor a treasure of unique art, designs, and culture within the huge dwarven walls, and any that have been to the village often describe it as a place of magic and mystery.

The structures inside Avendae are mostly of very natural materials. There is a giant mushroom called ‘Avenbella’ (Hence the name for ‘Avendae’) that the Pixies have learned to enhance and preserve with magic. Avenbella mushrooms are known to easily grow 5 ft tall and 6 ft around. They have a thick rubbery outside that does very well against all kinds of weather. Their inside is usually hollow. The pixies have taken advantage of these mushrooms, enhancing them with magic and their green thumbs to use them as homes. As such, there are very few ‘two story’ structures in Avendae.

The Pixies are an interesting race. They are very placid and the idea of ‘defenses’ is a new one to them. The Dwarves have stepped in and built them a very nice 20 ft tall, 5 ft wide, sand colored marble wall that encloses their little village. The pixies at first were slightly offended at the giant thing, but the Dwarves carved wonderful murals of scenes of the forest in it. After adding a few ‘planters’ so that vines could grow on it, the pixies were happy with their new protection, even if the Dwarves drew the line at adding slides. The wall has served them very well.

Even the rain seems beautiful in Avendae, and due to the fine mist that always rolls in out of Misty Veil, a perpetual spectrum of color like a misted rainbow seems to constantly swirl around the village during the day.

History

Desta is another village belonging to the Fae. It appeared along with the Sprites, Pixies, and Gnomes after the Rending. During the Chaos wars, Desta was the first town to be attacked and lost nearly the entire population of its people in a tragedy. Some Sprites escaped and were able to warn those living in villages as far away as Laraville, giving the rest of the Kingdom the change they never had.

Desta was completely obliterated during the Wars and when the Sprites finally returned, they found little to remind them of home. Desta was entirely reformed and today is a remarkable if small and quaint variation of civilized nature.

The Town of Desta

Description

Sprites are very reclusive and are rarely seen out of Desta and the surrounding woods. They are not overly fond of outsiders visiting their home, but maintain a polite if detached demeanor when entertaining guests. The Sprites rely heavily on their control of nature and magic for defense. Having held a magical barrier for nearly a decade against the Chaos Legions and the Karatta forces, the Sprites have a plenty good track record to support this notion.

Desta is a marvel of blending a civilized and highly intellectual society with nature. Their homes and town are so masterly crafted with the preservation of the environment in mind, Desta could easily be swallowed by the forest with no trace to be found.

Desta sees light rain fall in the late winter and spring months, mild summers, and very gold winters with heavy snow fall due to its down wind position to Mount Iceback.

History

The Gnomes appeared in the world after the rending and are part of the classification of Fae. Much like the other two Fae races, the Gnomes Maintain that everyone else 'appeared' and that they have always been there. During the Chaos Wars, the village was almost completely untouched, the traps and mechanical wonders of the place deterring the Chaos Legions and the armies of Karatta.

Since, it has been repaired for what it suffered and the Gnomes have taken to improving it and testing town defensive machines. Its quite a dangerous place to go if you are to walk in the wrong spot at the wrong time!

Description

This is the homes of the gnomes of Lazaron. The small subterranean village is located inside Mt. Clearwater. Underground rivers and lakes actually connect to Clearwater lake, allowing the gnomes to have a port and possible trade with other port villages.

The structures in the town are mostly made of rock, metal, and occasionally some wood. It is a marvel of mechanical contraptions. Even the roads have been made with a mixture of bits of metal and wood. Gears, pulleys, cables, levers, and all other manner of gadgets and gizmos lay all over the town. Lifts take gnomes to upper and lower levels where they mine their metal, and swinging bridges connect the various caverns over chasms. Most notably is an underground forest of trees that have adapted to the harsh underground and sunless environment.

Being up towards the top of Mt. Clearwater, the village itself experiences mild summers, light rainfall, but very bitter winters. Not as cold as Mt Iceback or Mt Gray Winds, it is still very cold with heavy snow fall. Various traps beyond explanation, and releasable bridges in conjunction with the mountain itself make Opstantanolian an inquisitively ominous place.
