Answer
A family is a group of players that have established themselves as a family unit. It takes two players to found a family. The character that intiates the formation of the family becomes the Head of Family or HOF. Other characters can enter the family through relation, marriage or adoption. Eventually, characters can be born into the family. When a member of the family marries, and their spouse takes the family's name, they form a branch in the family. The person whos name was kept becomes the head of branch or HOB.
Eventually, families will earn status and reputation from the actions and success of the family members. This status and reputation can be used to increase the amount of land the family can own, and the cost of establishing an Estate. As they grow in status, families can create crests, choose family colors among other rewards and recognition.
