The difference between Ancestry and 'The Age of Prosperity' or the 'Live' world is basically that Ancestry is to be considered alpha/beta, while The Age of Prosperity will be the released or 'Live' version of the game.
In a more complex answer, Ancestry is based in the past. It is reliving the history that has already been told and allowing players to make their mark in that history. A new historical series called 'The Ancestry Chronicles' will be developed to tell the tales of the brave, the lucky and the not so lucky. These chronicles will be a combination of official staff writings and contributions from the players, presenting a very thorough and fair look at the ages.
