Xaltion

At this time, only Xaltion was known as a Deity. He had maintained a relatively close relationship with the Clerics of the times and was a constant presence in the lives of the people. After the Day of Ruination, he no longer communicated with the Clerics and his absence left an empty space in the heart and souls of all.

Many believed that Xaltion was watching from afar waiting to see if anyone lived through his wrath so he could strike them down and finish the job. These individuals have become dubbed 'The Fanatics' for they live under ground and refuse to come out in the day. It is written lore that the sun in the sky is actually Xaltion traveling through the clouds watching everyone. Or at least that the sun is some kind of lens, like a magnifying glass, he uses to be able to see the mortals.  So they will only come out at night when the sun is not in the sky thinking they are safe from Xaltion. This group consists mostly of humans, though it is rumored even a few Dwarves and Elves have joined them.

Others felt that Xaltion had spent his anger and abandoned them. These folk are not by any means care free but they are also not as fanatical as their counterparts. They believe Xaltion is gone and is of no harm, but many of that group fear the return of their angry god.

The subject of religion is one of speculation, sadness and doubt. However the Dwarves with their steadfast love of Xaltion and built in stubbornness are known to come to blows with anyone that says anything negative about Xaltion. They along with the High Elves work to keep Xaltion alive in the minds and hearts of the short lived humans.

Ruination Roleplay

Will you take the challenge of The Ruination?

Tips for Role Playing in Ancestry - The Ruination:

  • Sketch together a background of what or who your character was prior to The Day of Ruin. REMEMBER: There were no warriors, mages or classes really of any kind. There were common folk, trade people and Clerics.
  • Determine where your character was and what they were doing when the ruination struck.
  • Determine what your character has been doing to survive.
  • Consider forming a Family with friends or other players.
  • Remember that there is no magic in the world yet!
  • Determine if you will be an Ancestor of your future Live Character or if you will be no relation at all. (Ancestry runs under the premise you will be playing the Ancestors of your eventual live character and passing the things you earn down to them.)
  • Will you make a new character or play the same one as Alpha/Beta moves through the History, which will span thousands of years.
  • Will you be a Fanatic, a citizen of Dawnville or a loner?
